Stories from the Animals

Baron and Brady
Baron and I were visiting a friend who had lost a dog since we'd last seen her.  From the time we arrived, Baron kept looking at my friend and crying a most sorrowful whine.  By evening we had both heard enough.  Since it is often difficult to get past the emotions and logic to talk with one's own pets, I had no idea what Baron was trying to say; but it was clear that it was important.

My exasperated friend asked if Baron could tell her dog Brady what the problem was and then Brady could tell me.  I described the plan to the dogs, then talked to Brady.  He said that Baron had been trying to express his sympathy over the loss of my friend's older dog.  As soon as I explained that out loud, Baron appeared satisfied and quietly laid down.

To those people who don't think animals have emotions, this story will sound absurd.  But this event just confirmed what I had always known - my dog Baron was a true gentleman.
